Staycation - Days 5, 6, 7...It's a long one!

It's been a while, but I didn't feel like posting while on our stay downtown and, well, we've been busy!

Day 5 we slept in and hung out at the house until we packed up and swung by Sesame for lunch.

Nom Nom Nom.
After lunch, we headed downtown.  We wanted to make the most of our staycation and spend some time away from the house in downtown Charleston!

Let me tell you, it was AWESOME!  I wish we had stayed longer, but I'm hoping we make this a yearly thing.

Wednesday night after we checked in, we layed low since we had an early start the next morning. (Well, early for us.  :)  Not gonna say we didn't walk across the street to the gas station to get him a diet dew and me something sweet and Mr. Creative spotted a Kodak moment.

Bright and early the next morning (translates to 9:00ish for us) we head out to walk .7 miles to Palmetto  Carriage for our first adventure during our downtown leg of staycation.

I believe this is where my blister started.
We got to sit in the back of the carriage.  Best seats in the house and we didn't have to share our seat with anyone.  Yay!

I don't know the route we took, but we went through the Battery, up East Bay Street, and past the Old Exchange Building.

Rainbow Row
This apparently used to be a hat shop.  His entire body is made of different hats.
After the carriage ride and talking to some horses, we wandered up King Street to the Apple Store to get the camera lens on my phone fixed.  You can't see it in these pictures, but you can see it here.  About 30 minutes and 50 bucks later, I'm all fixed up!

Apple Store.
By this time my blister is bothering me so much I'm walking on the side of my foot, but my stomach wins and we set out to look for lunch.  Not too far up King Street, we find this gem.

Check them out here.
And, oh my, while looking for their website, I just learned that they are opening in Mount Pleasant.  Woop woop!

Ok, so even after that fantastical salad, the blister on the bottom of my foot is really messing with my day, so after a failed attempt at a band-aid solution, we swing by the hotel so I can put my super cool sneaks on.

Hey, we were being tourists, so I could be a dork.

Next up, we headed to Waterfront Park to take pictures of the infamous pineapple fountain.  Lots o pics below.

All the good ones are Joey's, can you tell which?

 Fun with the camera...

A couple more cool Joey shots...

This last one was taken on the way back to the hotel to get ready for dinner on the corner of Market and East Bay.

We got all dolled up (well as dolled up as we get) and called up the Charleston Bike Taxi crew to pick us up and take us a couple blocks away to Fish.

If you get a chance, go to Fish.  This was my second time there and they are fabulous!

We had a drink at the bar and the margarita connoisseur of course had to give theirs a try.

Then we sat down for some yummy dinner.

That was pretty much day 6.  Next up... Day 7!

We got up, checked out and headed to Taco Boy for lunch and a margarita tasting.  Verdict?  7 out of 10!  We're getting closer!

On our way home we stopped by a place called Sustainable Warehouse.  Super cool and so random.  It's a huge warehouse full of stuff they have pulled from houses that were torn down, things the city if getting rid of, etc.  It's in the ghetto, hard to find, dark, and I'm pretty sure if we stayed there long enough we would have seen a rat, but we'll be back.

On this trip, Joey bought a couple stop lights.

What's he going to do with these, you ask?  Oh, I think well find out soon enough!

Until next time,
Hillary
